Dan Alvey served five years in the Army as an armor officer after attending the United States Military Academy at West Point. Dan is now a Visiting Assistant Professor at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut. He created this website as a way to link with other veterans in mathematics, both in higher education and industry, and to share our experiences in the field.
You can reach Dan at: dan.alvey@mathvets.org
MathVets was created to provide a support center for veterans in mathematics to network, seek mentorship, and learn about the shared experiences of veterans entering and working within the field of mathematics. This site is also for veterans considering a career in mathematics so that they have a team to talk to and get advice from if they choose to transition out of the service and into a career in math. More information about the "why" behind MathVets can be found in the Post Archive.
Through the MV Network, you can connect with veterans in math and/or those in support of increasing veteran representation and involvement in mathematics. You will have the opportunity to find a mentor, choose to be a mentor, link up with peers, or find a veteran in math to talk with if you are interested in entering the field. Please click the button above, which will bring you to a quick questionnaire, to join the MV Network!
